We are thrilled to welcome the following neighbors to the 2021-2022 DNA Executive Board and look forward to working together to advocate for our community in the coming year.
Member-at-Large: Emma Shlaes
Emma has been a Dogpatch/Potrero resident with her husband for 4 1/2 years after living in other parts of San Francisco since 2008 and the broader Bay Area since birth. Her career is in transportation: she currently works at Commute.org, a government agency in San Mateo County, after working for 8 years at the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition. She is a dedicated Caltrain commuter. Emma's first endeavor with DNA was with the Transportation Subcommittee, working to support MinneSlowta as well as the N-S bike route. Emma and her husband enjoy getting coffee at the many community spots and walking to Esprit Park or Crane Cove Park as well as dining around the neighborhood.
Member-at-Large: Alexandra Lindsay
Alexandra Lindsay is a product manager, Minnesota Street resident, mom of two young children and current board chair of Close the Gap, a nonprofit that recruits and trains Democratic women to run for state legislature in California.
Member-at-Large: Vanessa Aquino
Vanessa, is a native San Franciscan. Vanessa’s work as a community organizer in the Dogpatch District has made her an essential voice for small business, residents, and emerging development. Her endeavors to make the Dogpatch not only a livable district but a thriving one as well, have endeared her to all that encounter her persistence, vision and humanity. She recently joined the board of Human Rights Commission for the City and County of San Francisco. Vanessa is a current DNA Board member and has lived in Dogpatch for over 18 years. She knows her neighbors and considers her community her family. You will find her biking around the neighborhood and city. Member-at-Large: Bruce Huie
Dogpatch neighbor at 23rd and Indiana. Past President of DNA, organizer of Progress Park many years ago, Co-Chair of the GBD Formation Committee and past Board Member. Co-founder of the Dogpatch Howlers Bocce team and active player at the Crane Cove Park Pétanque Friday afternoon league.
Vice President: Donovan Lacy
Donovan has been a resident of Dogpatch since 2010 and a long-time member of the DNA. He loves living in Dogpatch and is excited about the future of the neighborhood. He spent nearly 20 years in the telecommunication industry in real estate development and sales and most recently has been involved in the craft beer industry. He is actively involved in a number of transportation initiatives in D10 and is passionate about making Dogpatch streets safer for pedestrians and bicyclists. He enjoys spending time with his wife Sally and daughter Beatrice hiking, cycling and camping.
President: Katherine Doumani
As a twenty year resident of Dogpatch, parent and current DNA president, Katherine brings seasoned leadership, deep experience and proven commitment to the DNA Board. As a founding member of PREFund, (Potrero Residents Education Fund) and board member of Friends of Potrero Preschool, Katherine earned her civic stripes building three preschools to serve the growing population of children in Southeast SF, with the goal of keeping families in San Francisco.
Dedicated to solving complex community issues by working with city and neighborhood stakeholders to serve our rapidly growing population, Katherine currently leads the Friends of Dogpatch Hub in an effort to build the first Community Center in Dogpatch. She also serves on the Dogpatch-Potrero Green Benefits District board and is a long-serving member of the Port of San Francisco’s Southeast Advisory Committee.
