Issues:

Our community is united in our belief that Amazon’s proposal to build a 650,000 square foot warehouse facility in District 10 must go beyond a short-term business investment - it must lead to a meaningful long-term investment in our community.

We stand firm in our call for Amazon to be a good neighbor by treating its employees and

community with respect and dignity, and to meet the standards and values that are the core

foundations of San Francisco. Amazon can and should agree to a Community Benefits

Agreement (CBA) with our Alliance. A CBA will include such things as:

• Guarantee equitable jobs and training for District residents

• Guarantee workers the right to organize a union and a project labor agreement

(PLA) for construction of the facility

• Investment in affordable housing programs for District 10

• Commitment to environmental and green principles

• Completion of funding for the Jackson Park renovation project, open space

expansion and enhancements, and greening

• Subsidized public transit, protected bike lanes and intersections, as well as

pedestrian safety

• Support of locally-owned businesses in the District 10

The San Francisco Southeast Alliance (SFSEA) formed following Amazon’s December 2020

purchase of the Recology site at 900 7th Street in southeastern San Francisco. SFSEA is an

Alliance of community, environmental, and transit groups that joined together with labor unions

to reach a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) with Amazon that guarantees equitable jobs,

training and rights for local residents, as well as critical social, economic, environmental, open

space, and quality of life issues in Showplace Square and the broader District 10 community.

PLEASE DIAL IN TO SPEAK--here is a ready-made

Script:

“Hi, my name is _______. I am a member of _______ (member org) and I am here today

on behalf of SFSEA to demand that Amazon prioritize the needs of the community in its

proposal. That means:

1. a guarantee for equitable jobs and training for District 10 residents;

2. guaranteeing workers the right to organize a union and a project labor

agreement (PLA) for construction of the facility; and

3. a sizable investment in the D10's affordable housing, Jackson Park renovation

project, open space, streetscape, and local businesses."
