Permanent Route Change:
The 48 Quintara/24th Street pilot reroute and eastern terminal change to 22nd at Iowa will be made permanent and will also now apply to the 48 Owl.
This change will also now be reflected across all of our customer-facing systems as well as those for operators. This means that trip planning apps should reflect the new routing, and operator communications will also show the new routing, which should decrease erroneous traffic on Tennessee Street.
Added Service:
The 48 Quintara/24th Street will see one weekday bus will be added to address crowding. This will improve frequency to every 14 minutes between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Reduced Service:
The 55 Dogpatch schedule will reflect the increased congestion and construction on 16th Street and provide service at a freque
ncy of every 20 minutes (instead of every 15 minutes).
Back to School on Muni
With SFUSD students returning to school August 16, many families who rely on Muni to get to school will see Muni service increase after school as part of the new schedule. Because Muni vehicles often become crowded during morning peak hours and sometimes pass up stops when there is not enough room for extra riders, families are encouraged to plan their trips ahead of time and hop on Muni early to make sure students get to school on time. While the Muni service changes won’t be implemented until August 19, school tripper service will be offered starting August 16, the first day of school for SFUSD.
We have put together a list of Muni routes that serve SFUSD to help families plan their trips ahead of time. For more information, visit SFMTA.com/Muni2School.
